I have fallen in love with the sea and it’s inhabitants. It is my hope that through what I have to share, you will too.

Why are you called the “Nameless Bear”?

My parents had a wicked sense of humour (read: cruel). I’m a Singaporean Chinese and our names tend to mean something. My parents wanted mine to mean something kick-ass, like “无名英雄” (wu ming ying xiong) which translates to “unsung hero”, but since our names only have three characters, it was shortened to “吴明雄” (wu ming xiong), which sounds like “no name bear”.

Hence, Nameless Bear.

What camera setup do you use?

Most pictures you see in my portfolio were taken with my old setup which was flooded (RIP):

  • Olympus EM5II

  • Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro lens

  • Olympus housing (PT-EP13)

  • Inon strobes (D2000 and Z240)

I have since upgraded to:

  • Sony a7riii

  • Sony 90mm f2.8 macro, Sony 50mm f2.8 macro lens

  • Aquatica housing

  • Inon strobes (Z330)
